GoodReads Blurb:

Reprinted here for the first time since the 19th century, these color illustrations by T. Pym make the classic Andersen fairy tale even more magical. One of Andersen's best-beloved tales, The Snow Queen is a story about the strength and endurance of childhood friendship. Gerda's search for her playmate Kay–who was abducted by the Snow Queen and taken to her frozen palace–is brought to life in delicate and evocative illustrations.

Review:

The Snow Queen was mt very favorite fairy tale as a little girl. There was a movie version if it that I used to watch a lot but for the life of me I cannot remember which one it was...It was animated, I know that.

Anyway, I was in love with this story as a little girl. The idea recently came to me that I wanted to do a retelling of it. So of course, I had to read the original story again. I actually listened to the audio of it. I loved the story just as much as when I was younger. It is still my favorite and I can bet it will remain my favorite fairy tale. I love the message behind it and the magical feel behind it. I know it's a fairy tale so of course it has a magical feel. But if you've read it, you probably know what I mean. Actually, a character in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe reminds me very much of The Snow Queen. The message is beautiful. To keep it short: I love it!! Five quills!!

Review:

I LOVED Sailor Moon as a little girl. So when I got older I knew I wanted to read the original mangas. I was lucky to find the boxed set of the first six books at Barnes and Noble one day. Of course, I bought it. I loved seeing the way the original story line played out. There were also enough similarities to the anime I watched as a child that I got giddy reading it. I still love Sailor Moon. I couldn't stop reading and had to read the first two back to back. I really enjoy these mangas and would recommend them to someone who: loves manga or loved Sailor Moon when they were younger. I'm excited to finish the rest of the mangas that I have and then buy the rest. Maybe it's partly nostalgia but I give these 5 quills.

GoodReads Blurb:

When Ash and Dan met, the electricity between them was undeniable. A year later, their desire and lust is as powerful as it ever was. To celebrate their anniversary, they take a deep plunge into unexplored territory and experience new waves of erotic desire.

Intended for readers eighteen years and over due to the same sex, sexual nature of this book.

Review:

This was a quick read. I liked that it was M/M because there isn't a lot of that. Or at least, it's hard to come by. But for me, some of it was difficult to get into. I wished that some of the language drew me in to the story a bit more. I would give this one 3 quills but I'd still check out other works by this author.

I have no f*cking clue.

All I know is that my night started out with one thing in mind…to have a little fun.

The problem with that? I can’t remember a damn thing, except one.

Morgan’s soft and needy moans. It’s a sound I will never forget, just thinking about it makes my heart race and my pulse quicken. And I want to hear it over and over again…I craved it.

But Morgan’s a mystery. The harder I try the more she resists. There’s one thing she doesn’t know about me though…I’m not one to give up.

I’ll play her game, I’ll let her think she’s won. But in the end, I will have her.

Because all I need is Just One Chance to prove she’s meant for me…

EXCERPT:
Before I could say anything, Xavier hooked me around the waist and stepped closer to Pete. “Hi, you must be Pete,” he said, thrusting his hand out toward the dumbfounded man. “I’m Xavier, Morgan’s boyfriend, and we’re here to meet Marcus.”

“Um, y-y-yeah.” I felt awful at Pete’s obvious stuttering. “L-l- let me show you both to your table.”

“You are awful.” I slapped at his arm as he slid his hand lower, cupping my ass. “What are you gonna do next, pee on my leg?”

I walked away from him but I could hear his laughter echoing behind me. Apparently Xavier Stone was on some type of high horse. As I approached the table I had a feeling that my best friend had some involvement in this fiasco.

GoodReads Blurb:

Elvis Presley was called “the King of Rock and Roll.” His life and music transformed society in ways that are still felt to this day. With honesty, integrity, simplicity, and humor, What Every Child Needs To Know About Elvis Presley explains this pop icon to young children, helping them to understand the modern world and, more importantly, the adults in their lives. Written by three dads – a child expert, a healthcare analyst, and a veteran of the children’s publishing world – What Every Child Needs To Know About Elvis Presley is the book all true music lovers will want for their young children.

Review:

Yes, this is a board book. Which means it's for little kids but it's about Elvis so of course I read it. I also loved that it was for little kids. It gave a good quick overview of Elvis. I love Elvis. I would definitely suggest this as something to read to your kids. Or nephews or nieces, et cetera. If I had children I would absolutely buy this for them and read it to them. I think it's essential for every music lover if they have children in their lives they want to start teaching about music. 4 quills.

Following Daddy’s rules has always been easy.
Smile. Nod. Repeat.

Dark. Dirty. Sinner.
A hungry beast, released from his cage.
And I’m on the menu.

Tonight, I’m Zeke’s Eden.
His sugar.
His whore.

Daddy’s little girl is all grown up…

***Warning: This is an erotic novella.***

Review:

Like the blurb says, this is an erotic novella, so if you're not into that then this isn't for you. And I probably wouldn't even bother reading the review. That being said, if you're looking for something short and hot and sexy then I think that you've come to the right place. This is a quick, sexy, hot read. And it's well written. I'm interested to see what happens next. If you're looking for some good erotica then I'd definitely suggest picking this up. This was my first K. Webster book and I really enjoyed it. But it wasn't what started my obsession with her books. That review will come later. Anyway, 4 quills.

Book Blitz | The Wild by K. Webster

The Wild

by K. Webster
Publication Date: August 7, 2017
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance, Taboo

I brought them to the wilderness because we couldn’t cope with our reality. The plan was to make a new life that didn’t include heartache. No people. No technology. No interference. Just us. A chance to piece together what was broken. But the wilderness is untamed and harsh. Brutal and unforgiving. It doesn’t give a damn about your feelings. Tragedy lives there too. No escaping the truths that won’t let you go. All you can do is survive where love, no matter how beastly, is the only thing you can truly count on. Confusing. Wrong. Twisted. Beautiful. Sick. Love is wild. And we’re going to set it free.

Warning: The Wild is an extremely taboo story. Most will find that the themes in this book will make you incredibly uncomfortable. This book is only for the brave, the open-minded, and the ones who crave love in even the most dismal of situations. Extreme sexual themes and violence in certain scenes, which could trigger emotional distress, are found in this story. If you are sensitive to heavy taboo themes, then this story is not for you.

Page Amount: 47 pages, Kindle edition

GoodReads Blurb:

*** Introduction

This is not a HOW-TO book but rather a candid, and sometimes humorous, accounting of my experiences since becoming an indie author. No part of this book is directed toward any single person or persons, and any opinions expressed are strictly my own.

My adventure is totally mine; the lessons learned are unique to me. Each author will follow their own path on this journey, learning along the way the lessons that are pertinent to them. ***

Have you ever wondered what goes on in the mind of an indie author? Curious to know the story behind the stories?

Kristine Raymond takes you on a journey of her experiences, from the first time she sat down to write, to learning what goes into actually publishing a book, to the bond of friendships forged along the way.

Not a how-to book, but rather a why she did it – and keeps on doing it – ‘write words’ is filled with real-life events and the lessons learned in the process.

Review:

I won a giveaway from Kristine Raymond a while ago where I got all of her published books, signed. Believe me, I was super excited. In addition to all of her books signed I got a bunch of swag, too.

This was the first of her books that I read. It was so cute and little I had to pick it up first. Plus, I felt I could really relate to the the content. Since I'm an indie author, as well. I really enjoyed the personal experiences, anecdotes and advice in this book. I have a feeling that I will reread more than once. It's a great addition to my bookshelf. I would recommend it to any indie or to someone who wants more insight into the world of an indie author. 5 quills.

Blog Tour | Greener (Escape From Reality Series #3) by Erin Lee

Title: Greener Series: Escape From Reality #3
By: Erin Lee
Publication Date: July 15, 2017
Genre: Contemporary Fiction
Cover Designer: Crazy Ink
#greenerblogtour
We all do it.
It’s part of what makes us human. There are names for it – jealousy, envy, and sometimes even greed. We daydream about what someone else has. We convince ourselves that things would be better if we were someone else altogether…The grass is always greener, we believe. Or is it?
For Caroline, being left alone would be everything. She’s had enough of doctors and nurses telling her how to live because of a mistake she made as a kid. The idea of another shrink makes her cringe. Yet, she doesn’t have a choice. Not if she wants to keep living on the outside.
For Nora, being seen would mean the world. It’s been years since she’s had a hot shower without sneaking around but no one notices. No one cares to ask. It’s her job to smile, pretend everything is great and ask them about their days instead.
And for Dennis, the ability not to care at all would solve his difficulties. If only he could stop worrying about what people thought of him. To live authentically would make things so much easier. He could finally close the door to his past.
Three people with entirely different problems and one thing in common: They are trapped with a need to escape. Ironic, when Escape, Colorado is exactly the place tourists expect to find their own escapes. But then, the tourists are human too…
The grass is always greener.

Caroline
My alarm goes off at 10:21 every day – long after Lori has come and gone. Way past after I know she could be back to bother me. Basically, by the time she’s found other people to bother. I have no idea why I set it this way. I probably figured, close enough. I feel guilty sleeping in past 11 a.m. But, what do I really have to wake up for? Some days, I feel like my mother after James. I don’t have that kind of excuse though. I can’t say that it’s grief. I really don’t know what is wrong with me.
I know I’m depressed. I’ve been through more diagnoses than anyone I know. And I know a lot of crazy people after living at ECH for so long. By the time my alarm goes off, I’ve already been up and back to bed. Every morning, that annoying Lori-witch with her high-pitched laugh comes to wake me to give me my meds. She’s got to be pushing 400 pounds and only wears printed leggings that look like they are going to break at the seams. Still, she has the energy of a ten-year-old – always dancing around and talking about her dogs. “Clean up your house, Caroline. This place is a mess,” she says. “Gotta keep up with your treatment goals! Don’t want anyone thinking you can’t take care of yourself.” Or, “Does Nora know about this? Have you talked to her about your living conditions?” No, but I’m sure you will. And I’m sure she’ll be happy to lecture me. Thanks for asking.
I finally gave her a key to my house so she would cut it out with the doorbell. Before that, she would literally ring it to the tune of “Mary Had A Little Lamb” until I finally answered.
Lovely, huh? I have a stranger in my house—called a Direct Support Provider—who probably steals from me. I try not to think about it because it bothers me. At least she takes me to the grocery store. Most days, I think she actually cares about me. Still, she, and the people she works for, are annoying. They made a back room in my home into a “med” room and it stays locked. I’m not allowed to go in there. Sometimes, Lori disappears for hours “doing paperwork.” (Normally, she sits back there setting up Go-Fund-Me accounts for puppies that didn’t die and don’t need “life-saving” surgeries. Anything for a free ride, but who am I to judge)?
I have no privacy. None. At any time, and for sure twice a day, I have Lori or one of her co-workers here to make sure I take my pills. It has to be this way until I get through the one-year mark and can prove that I’m capable of taking my own medications. These are the things, the frustrations, Nora doesn’t understand. No one tells her how to arrange her house and what to do.
I don’t have to see her today. I’m glad for this. I’m sick of hearing about what I’m not ready for. Maybe that’s because there’s truth to it. Even if Dennis saw me in a romantic way, it’s not like I could bring him home. I can’t see Lori looking fondly on that and, let’s face it, she’d tell Nora.
I drag myself out of bed, stopping to pee and brush my teeth in the bathroom before hitting my final destination – the couch. It sags beneath me, not because I’m heavy, but because I’ve got that couch trained. I sit in the same place all day, every day, until it’s time for appointments. I reach to the edge of the coffee table for my datebook.
People would think I don’t need calendars or a datebook because I really don’t have a life. People would be wrong. Because I’m being watched, I have a list of things I need to do. If I don’t do these things—meet my treatment goals—I’ll be right back where I started on the fourth floor at ECH. Sometimes, the idea of that seems better than journaling about my future goals and plans. Today, on a Tuesday, my datebook reminds me that I have shit to do. Oh my God. Three o’clock! How did I forget? I remind myself to tell Lori the meds are making my brain foggy.
I jump from the couch. Today is Tuesday! Dennis is coming to fix the leak under my sink. I need to clean, shower and get dressed. I toss my datebook to the side. I can write my plan for getting a driver’s license another day. It isn’t due until Friday. Priorities.

Review

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is my second Erin Lee book. I actually read my first two back to back. I liked both but I like this one the best so far. Even though the characters frustrated me with thinking the grass is greener. Hey, that's the point of this book, right? We're all guilty of thinking the grass is greener at times but I do believe that some people do it more than others. Weirdly, having a serious chronic illness (a few of them) and a couple of issues with mental health have made me stop and take a minute when I do start to think someone else's grass is greener. My issues really aren't always something you can see, so what makes me think that I can see theirs?

I enjoyed the three different POVs in this book. I think my favorite was Nora. It was a short but good read. I can't say much because I don't want to give anything away. Everyone thinks everyone else's grass is greener, basically. I liked the end. Nothing was tied up in neat little bows but I feel like it fit. It seemed realistic. You'll just have to read it to see. I look forward to seeing how the rest of the Escape series plays out!!
